"We Be Seeing Double"

Film: Metropolis (1927)

Alias: Maschinenmensch

Type: Man-Made

Location: Civilized area

Height/Weight: That of an average human.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: The future is here and...it kinda sucks. No really, if you happen to be in the working class, you're absolutely screwed. The rich and the decadent rule, and they will do anything to make sure it stays that way.

History: Dr. Rotwang (actual name) has recently created a machine that resembles his ex-girlfriend. Interesting usage of time and work, but okay. However, the higher-ups of the futuristic city of Metropolis see this machine as a great way to get rid of the movement brewing underground where the working class toils away. Rotwang agrees to make the machine take the form of the movement's leader, Maria. Soon, the doppelganger is in, and ready to lead the movement to their defeat.

Notable Kills: None.

Final Fate: After Robot-Maria convinces the rebellion to flood the room with the main power source of Metropolis, the folks realize that she left the children there, something that the real Maria would never do. They tie the double to a stake and proceed to burn her, revealing her true, very dead form.

Powers/Abilities: With some assistance, Robo-Maria can copy the form of whoever is chosen.

Weakness: Fire works best.

Scariness Factor: 2-Robo-Maria made for a good imposter, but she really didn't do much in the long run. And when your robot can be taken out by fire, you know you've screwed something up.

Trivia: -The Maschinenmensch was created with the help of a life-size body cast of Maria's actress, Brigitte Helm.

-Maschinenmensch is German for "Machine-human".

They're making a city in that mind?

Wait, we still have biplanes in this time?

Seriously, there are no clothes in this one scene.

The soundwaves of freedom travel for miles.

Whoops!

As she knows, human-inhuman relations can be rocky.
The gold-tinted beauty herself!

Just wait until he shrugs.

I think she had way too much whiskey.

That can NOT be good for the spine.

Spoilers much?!

Not sure what I'm seeing here.

REALLY not sure what I'm seeing here.

Boo!
Much less lewd than you think.

Pile-up and slavery aside, pretty standard city for today.

If she weren't evil, I'd show her even greater things.

How could we forget this hellish machine?

Looking a bit dumb there.

"Praise the sun!"

"I'm not a fetish tool, am I?"
SATAM Robotnik takes notes.

That's...titilating.

She now looks like any rebellious daughter.

Maria in the big stinkin' city.

For once, fire actually does something to a machine.
